What Is Managed Microsoft 365?

Managed Microsoft 365 is a service where an outside provider handles the licensing, administration, security, migration, and ongoing optimization of your Microsoft 365 tenant — so your internal team doesn’t have to. It covers Exchange Online email, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), Intune device management, and — if licensed — Microsoft Copilot.

Microsoft reports that more than 400 million paid seats run on Microsoft 365 globally, and the platform is now the default productivity stack for small and mid-sized businesses. The problem is that M365 ships with hundreds of security settings, dozens of licensing SKUs, and a constantly moving feature roadmap. According to Microsoft’s own guidance, the average small business configures less than 30% of available security controls out of the box — leaving gaps attackers actively target.

Netsafe Solutions currently manages approximately 100+ Microsoft 365 tenants. We’ve been a Microsoft Partner since 2003, and we run every managed tenant against a Secure Score target of 70% or higher — well above the small-business average of around 30–40%.

What Does Netsafe Solutions Provide?

We deliver Microsoft 365 as a complete managed service. Each capability below is available as part of your tailored M365 environment — you choose what your business needs.

Microsoft 365 Licensing & Plan Optimization

Licensing sourced through Pax8 as a Primary Partner Admin — monthly right-sizing, not annual lock-in. Most Charlotte SMBs we audit are over-licensed by 15–25%. Our licensing reviews typically save clients $8–$40 per user per month without reducing capability.

Tenant Migrations (Email Included)

On-prem Exchange, Google Workspace, tenant-to-tenant, IMAP/POP3, mailbox consolidation. Typical timeline: 2–4 weeks with zero downtime. Mail flows, calendars stay intact, users keep working through the cutover.

Security Hardening (Entra ID + Conditional Access)

MFA enforced, Conditional Access policies, Entra ID P1/P2, break-glass accounts with FIDO2 YubiKey, GDAP-only admin access, Microsoft 365 Lighthouse oversight, Checkpoint Harmony email security, and Black Point Cyber SOC 24/7 tenant monitoring — 7-minute average response time.

Microsoft Copilot Deployment

Licensing, pilot group selection (5–15 users), SharePoint and OneDrive governance review, sensitivity labels, DLP policies, usage monitoring, and end-user training. Copilot runs $30/user/month on top of base M365 licensing — rollout strategy matters.

Intune & Mobile Device Management

Windows, macOS, iOS, Android enrollment. Configuration profiles, compliance policies, BitLocker enforcement, selective wipe for BYOD, Conditional Access device gating, and Autopilot zero-touch provisioning. Replaces standalone MDM platforms for most SMBs.

Teams Phone & Business Voice

Microsoft Teams Phone as a full PBX replacement — number porting, auto-attendants, call queues, voicemail transcription, handset rollout. See our Business Phone Systems page for implementation detail.

Microsoft 365 Pricing in Charlotte

Frequently Asked Questions — Microsoft 365 in Charlotte

How long does a Microsoft 365 migration take?

Most migrations take 2 to 4 weeks from kickoff to cutover with zero downtime for end users. Timelines depend on mailbox count, data volume, and whether SharePoint and OneDrive content is migrating alongside email. We document the full project plan in writing before starting — no scope creep, no surprise timelines.

What does Netsafe charge to migrate a company to Microsoft 365?

There is no separate migration fee for clients signing a managed services agreement. Migration labor, security hardening, and tenant setup are included in the first month’s management fee. For project-only migrations without ongoing management, we quote the work in writing before starting — typical range is $2,000–$12,000 depending on mailbox count and complexity.

Can Netsafe manage an existing Microsoft 365 tenant, or only tenants you migrate?

We take over existing tenants all the time. First step is a no-cost security gap assessment (see Security Gap Analysis) that audits your current Secure Score, Conditional Access policies, admin role assignments, and external sharing posture. We then propose a remediation roadmap. No migration required to become a managed client.

Does Netsafe handle Microsoft Copilot?

Yes — licensing, deployment, pilot group selection, permissions cleanup, DLP policy configuration, and user training. Copilot runs $30/user/month on top of base M365 licensing. We typically recommend a pilot group of 5–15 users before company-wide rollout.

What’s the difference between Business Standard and Business Premium?

Business Premium adds Entra ID P1 (Conditional Access, self-service password reset, Intune MDM), Defender for Business (endpoint security), and Intune for $11.40 more per user per month versus Business Standard. For any business serious about security, Business Premium pays for itself the first time you need Conditional Access to block a foreign login.

Does Netsafe support Exchange on-premises, or only cloud?

Cloud only for new managed clients. We handle Exchange-on-prem-to-M365 migrations regularly, but ongoing Exchange Server management is not a service we offer — Microsoft has announced that Exchange Server 2019 support ends October 2025, and the migration path for everyone is now Exchange Online.

How does Netsafe handle offboarding users in Microsoft 365?

Standard offboarding process: disable Entra ID account, revoke session tokens, convert mailbox to shared (or export to PST and delete), reassign OneDrive contents to the manager, remove from all Teams and SharePoint sites, remove device from Intune. Typical offboarding request is completed same-day.

What happens if there’s a security incident in the Microsoft 365 tenant?

Black Point Cyber SOC monitors the tenant 24/7. If an account is compromised, SOC analysts can disable the account, block malicious apps, remove forwarding rules, expire tokens, and force password resets — typically within 7 minutes of detection. We get notified in parallel and handle the full investigation and remediation.
